1 National Family Welfare Programme The Family Planning Programme was started in the territory during the year 1965-66. It remained fully voluntary and the main effort was to provide services like sterilization, IUD Insertion, distribution of contraceptives, MTP, Immunization, Antenatal, Intranatal, Postnatal Services and prevention of Nutrition Anaemia. 01-Jan-15
2 National Programme for Control of Blindness Under the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), a State Programme Cell (Ophthalmic) has been created in the Directorate of Health Services with state programme officer designated as Deputy Director (Ophthalmology) to implement Blindness Control activities in these Islands. 01-Jan-15
3 National Leprosy Eradication Programme National Leprosy Eradication Programme consists of 10 Survey Education and Treatment (SET) Centres, 3 Urban Leprosy Centres and one 20 bedded Temporary Hospitalization Ward at Bambooflat. Multi Drug Therapy was also introduced as part of this scheme. 01-Jan-15
4 National Tuberculosis Control Programme Under this programme, one District TB Center with trained key personnel for planning, implementation, monitoring and supervision of the programme functions at Port Blair. The TB ward in GB Pant Hospital has 50 beds. 01-Jan-15
5 National AIDS Control Programme The National AIDS Control Programme is in operation in this territory since 1992-93. It comes under the purview of the Central Government. 31-Jul-15
